Michigan
This
is Stuart. Stuart is one of
my next door neighbors in
Michigan. Every morning (afternoon)
when i'm here, we meet at
the fence, just a few steps
outside my door. This is definitely
not the road.

THE
CASBAH - SAN DIEGO
|
Casbahs
an interesting club. Wonderful
audience. Hot and stuffy and jammed
with people. I walked off stage
twice to go outside and get some
air. The staff scrambled to find
fans and air-conditioners and
they did open the door for me.
The audience waited while i breathed
fresh air, Michael and Ernie kept
playing. Jay, from the sound booth,
over the microphone said in a
very calm voice, “Patty, they’re
working on it..they’re attending
to it now.” which meant, fine,
leave the stage to get some air,
but don’t keep walking. I came
back. The set ended up being the
best of this road trip. Over and
out, San Diego. |

They
must think i’m a Pulitzer prize
winning author or something.
No other woman in Los Angeles
would appear at lunch without
make-up and with computer and
books in hand and at table.
The slicked back hair proprietor
of this Italian restaurant with
sidewalk tables took me in with
great ceremony. He said he was
giving me a table that would
accomodate all my “things.”
When I ordered the lamb chops,
the entire staff was buzzing,
preoccupied with the unadorned
woman with nondescript reading
glasses who was eating meat,
reading a book, no cell phone
in sight, and probably weighing
in at 10 lbs over the cultural
norm.

ELEVATOR
IN LAS VEGAS
|
Windy
and hot in Las Vegas. The concert
was outdoors with people comfortably
on the grass with blankets, kids,
food and wine. Good enough concert
but so much wind the music flew
off the stage and one could hear
the wind in the microphones. I
was also imagining dying under
the tarp that was about to come
down on top of us... it was flapping
wildly. Understandably, I couldn't
concentrate completely. Although
I love my new arrangement of the
song.."besame mucho." its very
smooooth but feels delicious in
the throat. |
