STEFON HARRIS

Up at 6:00am today and you KNOW what time i go to sleep. In spite of the fatigue (this particular combination of nerves and fatigue i never want to experience again) we had a great gig tonight in Montreal. Stefon Harris was the best fourth player I've ever had to date. The BEST. I debuted more original songs tonight.. the ones i'm saving for the next recording.. "If I Were Blue", "The Moon", etc. The concert was also filmed for TV. Strange that i would wait until 1300 people are listening to try the songs for the first time, but i had a feeling about Stefon being the perfect accompanist, and i was right. Everybody, but EVERYBODY in jazz is downstairs at the jam session tonight. A friend from Justin Time records took me out after the concert. We heard Cassandra Wilson with Terrence Blanchard, and Jane Monheit with Kenny Werner and Billy Hart. I'm upstairs wondering if they'll send up apple pie ala mode. And I'm going home tomorrow! Goodnight.

GREG HUTCHINSON

JOSHUA REDMAN

I finally got my flash working and Joshua was kind enough to take a minute to pose for me backstage. He's so handsome, well-dressed and a gentleman as well as a fine musician. It was fun to double bill with his band these two

nights. And Greg wanted me to take a better photo of him since i got the flash working. The Performance Center in Calgary is beautiful... another long, gorgeous Steinway piano. "Blue Bossa" lasted about 15 minutes tonight.. I'm trying to vocally harmonize with my piano lines in all sorts of new and tricky ways and it just took a long time for me to work out all my ideas tonight. Very early lobby call tomorrow....6:00am. And a concert in Montreal with Stefon Harris as my guest artist. I hate being tired for that. Damn.

ADAM NUSSBAUM & GREG HUTCHINSON

Aspen was uneventful. I would have taken a photograph but truly nothing distinguished itself. In Edmonton tonight, we had to switch set times with Joshua Redman because for 14 straight hours Michael was bumped off of flights coming from Chicago. i tried to get the flash working on my camera. The Edmonton Performance Center is beautiful and the 9 ft. Steinway piano was like having my own emerald city. My flight to Calgary tomorrow is too early, however, and so i'm here in Edmonton tonight trying to switch flights. Adam Nussbaum played subtly and brilliantly tonight and the performance center picked up every nuance of his brush playing. Joshua Redman's tired after being on tour for two weeks. And now that i know my flight tomorrow is at 10:30am, so am I.
